PROJECT INTRODUCTION

In my senior year of high school I competed in the Vans Custom Culture Contest where I helped lead a team in designing four categorized pairs of shoes: art, music, sports, and local flavor. During a later stage, I painted a skateboard from a statement about CEO's hiring graffiti artists to promote tobacco use.

FUN FACTS

Out of the 5,000 schools that entered, the shoes made it into the top 50 and the skateboard won. It was displayed at an event in the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York City and my high school was gifted $10,000 - over 4x the annual alloted budget for the arts.
